ATHENS, GA — The Athens Film Festival (ATHFF) is officially gearing up for its biggest year yet, returning to the Classic City from August 27-30, 2026. Grounded in its core philosophy of bringing elite independent cinema directly to an audience-driven community, organizers have officially confirmed the structural details for this year's highly anticipated four-day event.
This year, the official festival lineup expands to feature 110+ independent films from across the globe, alongside a deeply enriched roster of panels, workshops, and networking events designed to foster genuine connections between creators and film lovers.
To accommodate the growing crowds, diverse programming tracks, and expanded international submissions, the festival will activate six distinct downtown venues, turning Athens into a completely walkable, immersive cinema hub:
"Athens shows up for film in a way that is entirely unique," said Executive Director Chuck Griffin. By keeping individual tickets highly accessible at $12, the festival continues to break down traditional industry gatekeeping barriers, creating a purely open environment where community members can celebrate authentic storytelling.
The full 2026 film schedule, panel details, and workshop registration will be made public in the coming weeks. For ongoing updates, check back here or visit our home page at athensfilm.com.
